Comment from Ken

Elise had a little surprise for me that I enjoyed a lot and she forgot to mention in her earlier post. When we took the train from Copenhagen to Munich I was snoozing away when I happened to look out my window and saw something strange. There was no scenery and we weren't in a tunnel.  Suddenly I saw semi trucks right next to us. They weren't moving and we weren't either. It took me a minute to figure out what exactly was happening, but I finally did. I looked at Elise and said, "Are we on a ferry??!!"
Sure enough, the train had pulled right onto a ferry and we crossed a rather large body of water. We were able to get off the train (in fact we were required to). We could stretch our legs, and watch the water traffic. They had a good cafeteria and dining area.
This ferry carried buses, cars, tractor trailers--and our train! Lots of walk-ons too and people with bicycles.
This made for a fun trip event for me. Elise had known it would happen but didn't tell me as she wanted to surprise me.

  1. I can't believe a train on a ferry? I'm thinking your train must be a short one. That would be a surprise for me too. Have fun today and looking forward to your next post. Love you both!

    1. Lynda: The train was a long train to start with but they uncoupled a bunch of cars (I think there were probably about 26 cars originally but after the uncoupling, there were probably only about 5 cars). The trains have engines on both ends because they might head off another direction after uncoupling. There was a total of 4 engines because the train was split. P.S. There is a big bet going on today between Elise and me. We'll let you know who wins. Love Ken

Hi Lynda: We're really loving hearing from you as we travel along. Fun to see someone actually reading the blog after all the hard and time it takes. I can tell you right now I am going to win this bet. I feel bad even agreeing to it.. Like taking candy from a baby. Love Elise
